As part of the Torrens Road to River Torrens Project, the T2T Alliance will be undertaking signalling works on Pym Street, at the South Road intersection, and removing the centre median on South Road between Pym Street and Overland Road.

To minimise disturbance to peak hour traffic, the works will take place between 7pm and 6am on Wednesday 15 March and Thursday 16 March 2017 (finishing 6am Friday 17 March 2017).

To safely facilitate these works, Pym Street will be temporarily closed between South Road and Austin Street from

7pm Wednesday 15 March to 6am Thursday 16 March 2017.

Key activities                                                                                                                                                      

  • Saw cutting of the road pavement.
  • Reinstatement of signal detector loops.
  • Removal of centre median.
  • Reinstatement of pavement and asphalting.

A vacuum truck, road saw, excavator, bobcat, asphalt paver, compaction equipment, trucks and light vehicles will be used to perform these works. Lighting towers will also be in operation during night works.

Traffic management

  • Adelaide Metro buses travelling along Pym Street, between South Road and Days Road between 7pm and 11.30pm on Wednesday 15 March 2017, will be detoured along Hudson Avenue.   • Access to driveways will be maintained during these works.
  • Local detour routes will be in place and signage will alert motorists to the changed traffic conditions.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained with the assistance of a traffic controller.
  • Lane and speed restrictions will apply on South Road in the vicinity of the works.
  • Some noise can be expected, however the work will be managed to minimise disturbance to local residents as much as possible.
