As part of the Torrens Road to River Torrens Project, the T2T Alliance will be continuing to relocate services within the eastern footpath of South Road, between Hawker Street and McInnes Street. Multiple crews will be working across various sites within the area to complete the works.

To minimise disturbance to peak hour traffic, the works will take place between 7pm and 6am, from Sunday 25 September to Thursday 29 September 2016 (finishing 6am Friday 30 September 2016), weather permitting.

Key activities (South Road between Hawker Street and Hythe Street)

  • Intermittent works to reinstate footpaths.
  • Testing of conduits.

Key activities (South Road between Hythe Street and McInnes Street)

  • Excavation of a Common Services Trench.
  • Reinstatement of the trench with a temporary finish.

A vacuum truck, rock breaker, road saw, mobile crane, excavator, compaction equipment, trucks and light vehicles will be used to perform these works. Lighting towers will also be in operation during night works.

We will contact property occupiers should access to your property be temporarily impacted during the works.

As works progress, intermittent local road closures at South Road will be required between Monmouth Street and Forster Street. Residents and businesses will be notified closer to the time of any temporary local road closures in their area.

Traffic Management

  • Traffic and speed restrictions on South Road will apply in the vicinity of the works.
  • Signage will alert motorists to the changed traffic conditions.
  • Pedestrian access on South Road will be maintained with the assistance of a traffic controller.

Some noise disturbance can be expected at times while these works are completed, however the work will be managed to minimise disturbance to local residents as much as possible.
