UPDATE: UPCOMING SERVICE RELOCATION WORKS ON THE EASTERN SIDE OF SOUTH ROAD, RIDLEYTON – 02/06/2017 – 09/06/2017

As part of the Torrens Road to River Torrens Project, the T2T Alliance will be undertaking a range of works on the eastern side of South Road, between Torrens Road and Forster Street.  Crews will be working across various sites within the area to complete the works.

To minimise disturbance to peak hour traffic, intermittent day and night works will be undertaken from Friday 2 June to Friday 9 June 2017 (finishing 6am Friday 9 June 2017), weather permitting. Access to some driveways may be temporarily impacted during the above works.  We will contact residents and business operators in advance of any works that will have a direct impact, such as temporary driveway restrictions.

Key activities and locations

Installation of new gas main

  • South Road junction with Monmouth Street
    • Each day between 7am and 6pm from Monday 5 June May to Friday 9 June 2017

Installation of new sewer main connections

  • South Road, southbound lanes between Dartmouth Street and Hawker Street intersection with Hawker Street
    • Intermittent night between 7pm and 6am from Monday 5 June May to Friday 9 June 2017

Installation of common services trench

  • South Road, southbound lanes between Torrens Road and Paget Street
    • Intermittent day and night works from Monday 5 June to Friday 9 June 2017

Reinstatement of kerbing, footpaths and/or driveways

  • South Road, southbound lanes between Hawker Street and Hythe Street
    • Intermittent day and night works from Friday 2 June to Friday 9 June 2017

Installation of street lighting infrastructure

  • South Road, southbound lanes between Torrens Road and Hawker Street
    • Intermittent day and night works from Friday 2 June to Friday 9 June 2017

Equipment                                                                                                                                           

A vacuum truck, road saw, rock breaker, bobcat, excavator, trucks, mobile cranes, compaction equipment and light vehicles will be used to perform these works. Lighting towers will also be in operation during night works.

Traffic management

  • Pedestrian access will be maintained.
  • Electronic signage will notify motorists of any temporary local road closures during these works.
  • Lane and speed restrictions will apply in the vicinity of the works.
  • Signage will alert motorists to the changed traffic conditions.

Some noise can be expected, however the work will be managed to minimise disturbance to local residents as much as possible.
