UPDATE: RAIL WORKS BETWEEN QUEEN STREET/CROYDON STATION AND WEST STREET

As part of the Torrens Road to River Torrens Project, a range of works is being undertaken in the rail corridor between Queen Street and West Street to upgrade the level crossings and the Croydon Station.

Train services on the Outer Harbor line returned from the first service on 15 January 2018, however, finishing works at the level crossings and Croydon Station are still required. A range of activities at different locations within the rail corridor between Queen Street and West Street, and at Croydon Station will be undertaken during day and intermittent night works between 15 January and June 2018 (approximately).

KEY ACTIVITIES

Croydon Station

  • Croydon Station will be operational from the first train service on 15 January, with temporary lighting, fencing and tactiles installed.
  • Access to the station platforms will be available via fully accessible ramps from the northern side of the station (at Thomas and Day Terrace junction) and southern side of the station (on Euston Terrace near the pedestrian underpass).
  • A temporary train services timetable on the station platforms and way-finding signage to direct passengers to the platforms will be in place. (See below map showing access points to the station platforms as of 15 January.)

Level Crossings

West Street

  • Asphalting and fencing works at the pedestrian crossing

 Coglin Street

  • Finishing works to the western side of the pedestrian crossing

Queen Street

  • Concreting, asphalting and installation of the western pedestrian maze way.

TRAFFIC ARRANGEMENTS

Some traffic restrictions will be in place while the remaining works are completed and will gradually be reduced as works finish. Signage will be in place to alert road users to the changes in traffic conditions. 

 

The indicative traffic arrangements that will be in place from mid-January to end February 2018 (approximately) are noted below.

 Queen Street level crossing

  • The Queen Street level crossing will be open to allow traffic to travel in both directions.
  • Pedestrian and cyclist access will be available from the eastern pedestrian maze way only.

 Coglin Street

  • The Coglin Street level crossing will be open to traffic in both directions.
  • The pedestrian crossing on the western side will remain closed and pedestrian and cyclists will be directed to use the crossing on the eastern side of Coglin Street.

West Street

  • The Pedestrian crossing will remain temporarily closed.
