UPDATE: NIGHT AND DAY WORKS IN THE RAIL CORRIDOR AT QUEEN STREET AND CROYDON STATION- 27 NOVEMBER – 21 DECEMBER 2017

As part of the Torrens Rail to River Torrens Project, works are continuing in the rail corridor, between Queen Street and Croydon Station, Croydonweather permitting. In order to complete these works as soon as possible, intermittent day and night works will be required from 7pm Monday 27 November to 5pm Thursday 21 December.

Key activities

  • Backfilling L-walls on north and south sides of Croydon Station
  • Removal of pedestrian ramps on north and south sides of Croydon Station
  • Installation of new pedestrian ramps
  • Installation of electrical and signalling conduits
  • Installation of new station platforms and pedestrian crossings
  • Pavement works at Queen Street level crossing
  • Removal and replacement of kerbing on Queen Street
  • Installation of shelters, seating, station fencing and lighting
  • Installation of automated gates

Equipment
During these works a variety of equipment will be used including an excavator, concrete equipment, vacuum truck, compaction equipment, trucks, light vehicles and hand tools. Lighting towers will also be used in operation during night works.

Traffic arrangements

To safely carry out these works, temporary traffic signals have been installed across the Queen Street level crossing. The traffic signals will allow traffic in both directions to cross the level crossing using the current single lane.

 

Works will be managed to minimise disturbance to local residents however some noise can be expected
