UPDATE: NIGHT AND DAY WORKS IN THE RAIL CORRIDOR BETWEEN CHIEF STREET AND COGLIN STREET, BROMPTON – 13 – 21 DECEMBER 2017

As part of the Torrens Rail to River Torrens Project, intermittent day and night works will continue in the rail corridor, between Chief Street and Coglin Street, Brompton, from 6am Wednesday 13 December to 5pm Thursday 21 December 2017, due to construction related issues.

Key activities

  • Installation of pedestrian mazes at West Street and Coglin Street
  • Pavement and asphalting works at Coglin Street level crossing
  • Finishing and remedial works in the rail corridor
  • Signalling and interface works by the Torrens Rail Junction Project

Equipment

An excavator, bobcat, rollers, concrete pump, vacuum truck asphalting equipment, hand tools, trucks and light vehicles will be used to perform these works. Lighting towers will also be in operation during night works.

Some noise, vibration and dust from these works can be expected at times. Dust, noise and vibration monitoring equipment has been placed in the rail corridor and will continue to be monitored to ensure that works do not exceed compliance levels.

Traffic arrangements

Coglin Street

  • Coglin Street will remain temporarily closed between Ridley Street and First Street, until 5pm Thursday 21 December. It will then reopen at that time to all road users.
  • Finishing works and rail tamping will be required in January. An update with details of these works, timing and any temporary traffic arrangements will be provided in the New Year.

West Street

  • The West Street pedestrian crossing will re-open to pedestrians by 5pm Thursday 21 December 2017. The automated gates will not be operational until January.

Public transport users

The Outer Harbor and Grange rail lines will remain temporarily closed until 15 January 2018. During this time, substitute buses will be provided.
