UPCOMING WORKS IN THE RAIL CORRIDOR BETWEEN QUEEN STREET AND CHIEF STREET – 25 SEPTEMBER – 29 NOVEMBER 2017

During the temporary closure of the Outer Harbor, Grange rail line by the Torrens Rail Junction Project, the T2T Alliance will be undertaking a range of works along the rail corridor between Queen Street, Croydon and Chief Street, Brompton from 6am Monday 25 September to 10pm Wednesday 29 November 2017, weather permitting.

 Key activities and locations

  • General track maintenance between Queen Street, Croydon and Coglin Street, Brompton
  • Full track removal and renewal between Coglin Street and Chief Street, Brompton
  • Vegetation trimming and removal in the rail corridor between Queen Street, Croydon and Chief Street, Brompton
  • Asphalting, lighting and fencing works on the shared use path between Outer Harbor rail overpass and Coglin Street
  • Continued installation of noise walls along the rail corridor on Day Terrace and Euston Terrace, Croydon
  • Installation of activated pedestrian maze crossings at Queen Street, Croydon, West and Coglin Streets, Brompton
  • Upgrades to level crossings at Queen Street, Croydon, West and Coglin Streets, Brompton

Residents and businesses adjacent to the works area will receive advance notice of any works of a direct impact e.g. temporary access restrictions or noisy night works.

 Temporary traffic arrangements

Coglin Street

  • Coglin Street will be temporarily closed between Ridley Street and First Street to motorists, pedestrians and cyclists from 6am Monday 25 September to 7pm Friday 17 November 2017.

West Street

  • West Street pedestrian crossing will be temporarily closed between Ridley Street and First Street to pedestrians and cyclists from 6am Monday 25 September to 7pm Friday 17 November 2017.

Queen Street

  • Queen Street will be temporarily closed to motorists, between Euston Terrace and Day Terrace from 6am Monday 16 October to 7pm Thursday 9 November 2017.
  • Pedestrian and cyclist access will be maintained at the level crossing.

Croydon Station pedestrian underpass

  • The Croydon Station pedestrian underpass will be closed from 6am Monday 25 September to Friday 7 pm 17 November 2017.

Access to properties will be maintained. Signage will alert road users to changed traffic arrangements and local detour routes.

Pedestrian and cyclist access

  • Pedestrians will be able to cross at the rail line at Garnet Street and Queen Street, Croydon and at Chief Street, Brompton. Please refer to the pedestrian rail closure map over the page for more details.
  • Pedestrian access will also be provided on the eastern side of South Road between Port Road and Forster Street, Ridleyton.
  • The current cyclist detour for the Outer Harbor Greenway remains unchanged.

Public transport users

The Outer Harbor and Grange rail lines will be temporarily closed from 10 pm Sunday 24 September to 3 December 2017 during this time substitute buses will be provided.
