As part of the Torrens Road to River Torrens Project, there will be a temporary partial closure of the Outer Harbor rail line between Adelaide Station and Woodville Station from Saturday 9 April 2016 until the first service Monday 11 April 2016.
Works will occur between 2am Saturday 9 April 2016 and 4am Monday 11 April 2016 to commence construction of the retaining wall for the Outer Harbor rail overpass. For safety reasons these activities must be undertaken when trains are not operating.
Works will occur within the rail corridor at three locations:
Type of Works
Works will include construction of the base for retaining walls for the rail overpass.
Works on Saturday and Sunday will involve trenching works and compaction activities.
Excavators, loaders, light vehicles and compaction equipment will be used to undertake these works. Mobile lighting towers will be in operation.
Access to properties will be maintained and there will be no on-street parking during the entire works period.
No tree removals on Euston Terrace will occur during this closure. As previously advised, the T2T Alliance’s intention is to avoid tree removals where possible and will attempt to retain the majority of trees on Euston Terrace during construction of the rail overpass.
Works will include installation of precast concrete noise walls and vegetation removal along Day Terrace from South Road to Elizabeth Street, Croydon during the day on Saturday 9 April 2016 and Sunday 10 April 2016.
The area will be revegetated once construction of the rail overpass is complete in 2017.
A small crew will be undertaking these works and operating light vehicles and tree lopping equipment. Access to properties will be maintained, however, on-street parking will be restricted in the vicinity of the works.
South Road to Coglin Street, Hindmarsh
Works include preparation for the retaining walls and excavation for a signalling trench.
Traffic Management and Local Road Closures
Euston Terrace will be open to local traffic only from Queen Street, Croydon.
Traffic management will be in place to alert motorists to the changed traffic conditions. Some speed restrictions on South Road in the vicinity of the works area will apply. Motorists and pedestrians are advised to follow the direction of traffic controllers.
Construction vehicles and equipment will enter and exit the works area via South Road and Princes Street. Residents on Euston Terrace and Day Terrace can expect to see vehicles moving up and down the streets to undertake the required activities. Where practical, the use of local side streets adjacent to the works area will be avoided.
Substitute Bus Services
Substitute buses will replace trains between Adelaide and Woodville, connecting with trains at Woodville to service all stations to Outer Harbor and Grange.
Timetables are available in real time on the Adelaide Metro website and on signage at affected train stations and substitute bus stops.
