UPCOMING NIGHT AND WEEKEND WORKS WITH TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES FOR SERVICE RELOCATION WORKS ON SOUTH ROAD, BETWEEN HAWKER STREET AND MCINNES STREET- 3/10/2016 – 10/10/2016

As part of the Torrens Road to River Torrens Project, the T2T Alliance will be continuing to relocate services on the eastern side of South Road, between Hawker Street and McInnes Street. Multiple crews will be working across various sites within the area to complete the works.

The following activities will occur from Monday 3 October to Monday 10 October 2016, weather permitting:

Installation of a Common Services Trench

When:

  • Each night between 7pm and 6am from Monday 3 October to Thursday 6 October 2016 (finishing 6am Friday 7 October 2016)

Locations and key activities:

  • South Road between Hawker Street and Hythe Street.
    • Intermittent works to reinstate footpaths.
  • South Road between Hythe Street and McInnes Street.
    • Excavation for a Common Services Trench.
    • Reinstatement of the trench with a temporary finish.

Temporary road closures:

  • Monmouth Street will be temporarily closed from 7pm Monday 3 October to 6am Friday 7 October 2016.
  • Forster Street will be temporarily closed each night between 7pm and 6am on Wednesday 5 October and Friday 7 October 2016.

Equipment:

  • A vacuum truck, rock breaker, road saw, mobile crane, excavator, compaction equipment, trucks and light vehicles will be used to perform these works.
  • Lighting towers will also be in operation during night works.

Installation of a new water main

When:

  • From 7pm Friday 7 October to 6am Monday 10 October 2016.

Location and key activities:

  • South Road between Hythe Street and McInnes Street.
    • Saw cutting of the pavement, excavation of a trench and pipe laying.
    • Reinstatement and asphalting.

Temporary road closure:

  • Forster Street will be temporarily closed from 7pm 7 October to 6am Monday 10 October 2016.

Equipment

  • A vacuum truck, road saw, excavator, backhoe, bobcat, compaction equipment and light vehicles will be used to perform these works.
  • Lighting towers will also be in operation during night works.

Traffic Management

  • Lane and speed restrictions on South Road will apply in the vicinity of the works.
  • Signage will alert motorists to the changed traffic conditions.
  • Pedestrian access on South Road will be maintained with the assistance of a traffic controller.

Some noise disturbance can be expected at times while these works are completed, however the work will be managed to minimise disturbance to local residents as much as possible.
