UPCOMING NIGHT AND WEEKEND WORKS IN THE RAIL CORRIDOR BETWEEN QUEEN STREET AND COGLIN STREET – 09/06/2017 – 13/06/2017

As part of the Torrens Road to River Torrens Project, the T2T Alliance will be undertaking intermittent works in the rail corridor between Queen Street and Coglin Street, and on Day Terrace and Euston Terrace, Croydon, from 7pm Friday 9 June to 6 am Tuesday 13 June 2017.  These works are being undertaken during the temporary closure of the Outer Harbor rail line, for the Torrens Junction Project.

Locations, timings and key activities

Day Terrace and Euston Terrace between South Road and Queen Street

Long weekend day works between 7am and 6pm from Saturday 10 June to Monday 12 June 2017:

  • Commence installation of noise wall panels behind the existing retaining walls and rock-filled gabion walls. The remainder of the noise wall panels will be installed at a date to be advised in late July 017. Further notice will be provided closer to the date.

On the eastern side of the Outer Harbor rail overpass between South Road and Coglin Street

Long weekend day and night works from 7pm Friday 9 June to 6 am Tuesday 13 June 2017:

  • Drainage works inside the rail corridor from just west of Rose Street for approximately 85 metres towards Coglin Street.
  • Installation of fencing and footings for the shared use path between South Road and Rose Street.
  • Piling works on the southbound lanes of South Road adjacent to the Outer Harbor rail line.

Mobile cranes, an excavator, piling rig, concrete and tipper trucks, light vehicles and hand power tools will be is use. Lighting towers will also be in operation during night works. Some noise can be expected, however the work will be managed to minimise disturbance to local residents and businesses as much as possible.

Temporary traffic arrangements

  • Traffic restrictions will apply on Day Terrace, with local access to properties maintained with traffic controller assistance.
  • Traffic controllers will be in place to assist motorists at the Coglin Street rail crossing, to allow trucks and other plant access to the rail corridor.

In addition, the pedestrian footpath on the eastern side of South Road between Ridley Street and Forster Street, will remain closed for the next two months (approximately) while further works for the shared use path continue.
