CONFIRMED – UPCOMING NIGHT AND WEEKEND WORKS ON GRANGE ROAD BETWEEN SOUTH ROAD AND BERTIE STREET, WEST HINDMARSH- 11/8/2017 – 14/8/2017

As part of the Torrens Road to River Torrens Project, the T2T Alliance will be undertaking major pavement and asphalt reinstatement works at the South Road intersection with Grange Road and Manton Street, and on Grange Road and Manton Street adjacent to South Road. To minimise disruptions to peak hour traffic, the works will be completed over 4 weekends during August and September 2017, the timing of which is subject to weather conditions.  Advance notification will be given prior to each weekend of works.

The first weekend works will be undertaken on Grange Road between South Road and Bertie Street, West Hindmarsh from 7pm Friday 11 August to 6am Monday 14 August 2017.

Key activities and equipment

  • Removal of existing road pavement
  • Laying new pavement, asphalting and line marking

An excavator, profiler, road saw, grader, compaction equipment, asphalt paver, rock breaker (intermittent only) trucks and light vehicles will be used to perform these works. Lighting towers will also be in operation during night works.

Some noise and vibration can be expected during these works, however, the work will be managed to minimise disturbance to local residents and businesses as much as possible.

Temporary traffic arrangements

From 7pm Friday 11 August to 6am Monday 14 August 2017:

  • Grange Road will be temporarily closed between South Road and Bertie Street.
  • Right turns from South Road southbound on to Grange Road will not be permitted.
  • Bertie Street and Cator Street will be temporarily closed at Grange Road.
  • Right turns from McDonnell Avenue on to Grange Road will not be permitted.
  • Right turns from Grange Road on to McDonnell Avenue and left turns from McDonnell Avenue on to Grange Road will be maintained
  • One lane will be maintained on South Road northbound between Gawler Avenue and Port Road.
  • Two lanes will be maintained on South Road southbound between Port Road and Susan Street.
  • South Road southbound will be reduced to one lane between Susan Street and Hindmarsh Avenue
  • Signage will alert motorists to changes in traffic arrangements, including local detour routes.
  • Alternative heavy and light vehicle routes will be in place.
  • Traffic delays on Grange Road and South Road can be expected.
  • Signage will alert motorists to the changed traffic conditions, alternative routes for light and heavy vehicles and local detours.

Access to properties

  • It is BUSINESS AS USUAL for businesses on Grange Road, South Road and adjacent side streets.
  • Alternative customer access arrangements will be in place for businesses where required. Signage will be in place to direct motorists.
  • Access to some property driveways on Grange Road may be temporarily impacted during these works. Residents and business operators will be notified in advance of any works that will have a direct impact, such as temporary driveway restrictions.

Cyclists and Pedestrians

  • Pedestrian access will be maintained on both sides of South Road, Grange Road and Manton Street.
  • Pedestrian crossings will be maintained on the northern and eastern sides of the South Road intersection with Grange Road/Manton Street
  • The signalised pedestrian crossing at the junction of McDonnell Avenue and Grange Road will be maintained.
  • Cyclists should follow the local detour routes in place for motorists or dismount and use the available pedestrian routes and crossings.

Bus users – Routes 115, 117, 118, A018, B10, B10C, B12

From 7pm Friday 11 August to 6am Monday 14 August 2017:

  • Inbound bus routes (towards the city) will be detoured via East Avenue, Port Road and South Road to Manton Street.
  • Outbound bus routes (towards the beach) will be detoured via South Road, Port Road and Welland Avenue to Grange Road.
  • Inbound bus stops 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 on Grange Road between South Road and East Avenue will be temporarily closed.
  • Outbound bus stops 12 and 13 on Grange Road between South Road and Welland Avenue will be temporarily closed.
  • Signage will be in place at these bus stops to direct passengers to the nearest available bus stop.
