As part of the Torrens Road to River Torrens Project, the T2T Alliance will be undertaking bridge and service relocation works at the South Road intersection with Grange Road/Manton Street.

To minimise disturbance to peak hour traffic, the works will take place from 6am Saturday 8 October to 6am Monday 10 October 2016.

Key Activities and Equipment

The following activities will take place:

  • Reinforcement and form work on the bridge structure.
  • Installation of electrical conduits and a transformer in the northern footpath on Manton Street between South Road and Bacon Street.

A vacuum truck, excavator, concrete agitator, bobcat, trucks, mobile cranes, compaction equipment and light vehicles will be used to perform these works. Lighting towers will also be in operation during night works.

Traffic Management

  • South Road traffic will be reduced to one lane in both directions between Port Road and Gawler Avenue.
  • Grange Road and Manton Street will be reduced to one lane in both directions between Bertie Street and Bacon Street.
  • Access into Bacon Street from Manton Street will remain open to both left and right turn movements during these works.
  • Speed restrictions will apply in the vicinity of the works.
  • Signage will alert motorists to the changed traffic conditions.
  • Pedestrian access will be maintained with traffic controller assistance.

Some noise disturbance can be expected at times while these works are completed, however the work will be managed to minimise disturbance to local residents as much as possible.
