ROAD WORKS, TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF OVERLAND ROAD, CROYDON PARK – 26 MARCH – 9 APRIL 2018

As part of the Torrens Road to River Torrens Project, the T2T Alliance will be undertaking a range of activities, including pavement reinstatement, asphalting, kerbing and footpath works and the installation of new stormwater infrastructure in the southbound lanes of South Road between Pym Street and Overland Road, Croydon Park.

Weather permitting, these works will take place as day and intermittent night works, from 7am Monday 26 March to 6am Monday 9 April, with the exception of the Easter period (6am Friday 30 March to 6am Tuesday 3 April) when no works will be undertaken.

To facilitate these works, Overland Road will be temporarily closed at South Road, from 6am Monday 26 March, following the re-opening of Pym Street, until 6am Monday 9 April.

Key activities   

  • Excavation of trench
  • Installation of stormwater infrastructure.
  • Backfill and reinstatement of the pavement.
  • Removal of existing road pavement
  • Laying new pavement, asphalting and line marking
  • Kerbing and driveway works.

Equipment 

Excavators, vacuum trucks, road saw, profilers, compaction equipment, paver, rock breaker, road saw, mobile crane, line-marking equipment, trucks and light vehicles will be used to perform these works. Lighting towers will also be in operation during night works.

Some noise and vibration can be expected during these works, however, the work will be managed to minimise disturbance to local residents and businesses as much as possible.


Traffic management
 

  • Overland Road will be temporarily closed at South Road following the opening of Pym Street, from 6am Monday 26 March to Monday 9 April (reopening 6am Monday 9 April).
  • Lane and speed restrictions will apply in the vicinity of the works
  • Signage will alert motorists to the changed traffic conditions
  • Motorists will be detoured via Pym Street during this time.

Access to local businesses  

  • Businesses in the area will remain open. Please support your local businesses.
  • Signage will be in place to direct motorists and pedestrians to local businesses.

Access to properties 

  • Access to some driveways may be temporarily impacted during these works. Residents will be notified in advance of any works that will have a direct impact, such as temporary driveway restrictions.

Pedestrian access 

  • Pedestrian access will be maintained, although at times the eastern footpath on South Road between Pym Street and Overland will be closed. When this occurs, a temporary alternative pedestrian access route and signage will be in place to alert pedestrians to the changed conditions.
