As part of the Torrens Road to River Torrens Project, the T2T Alliance will be installing Telstra conduits in the eastern footpath and southbound slow lane on South Road, at Hawker Street, Ridleyton.

To minimise disturbance to traffic, these rescheduled works will now be undertaken over two consecutive nights from 7pm to 9am on Friday 1 July and Saturday 2 July 2016 (finishing at 9am Sunday 3 July 2016, subject to weather conditions).

Trenching, laying of Telstra conduits and backfilling and reinstatement works will be undertaken. An excavator, small crane, vacuum truck, compaction equipment, light vehicles and lighting towers will be in operation during these works.

Traffic Management

  • South Road between Dartmouth Street and Cedar Avenue will be reduced to one lane of traffic in both directions.
  • No right turns from South Road onto Hawker Street will be permitted (during night works only).
  • A single shared use traffic lane will be in place on Hawker Street and South Road. All turning movements will be maintained in and out of Hawker Street during this time.
  • Ridleyton Shopping Centre and BWS property driveways will be maintained.
  • Speed restrictions will also apply in the vicinity of works.
  • Pedestrians will not be able to cross South Road at Hawker Street and will be detoured across South Road via the signalised pedestrian crossing near Harriet Street (opposite the Ridleyton Shopping Centre).
  • Bus services and bus stops will not be affected.
  • Signage will be in place to alert motorists and pedestrians to the changed traffic conditions.

Travel time delays through the area can be expected while the works are in progress.

Minor noise disturbance can be expected while these works are completed, however the work will be managed to minimise disturbance to local residents as much as possible.
