As part of the Torrens Road to River Torrens Project, the T2T Alliance will be continuing construction of the lowered motorway, between Lamont Street, Croydon Park and Susan Street, Hindmarsh.

Key activities will be occurring concurrently within the motorway with works progressing from south to north.Works will be undertaken during the day from 4am and intermittently at night from June to the scheduled opening of the motorway in late 2018, weather permitting.

Key activities

  • Installation of architectural facia panels over the shotcrete walls
  • Installation of stormwater pits and pipes
  • Construction of insitu concrete barriers
  • Laying of new pavement, asphalting and line marking.

Excavators, backhoes, loaders, asphalt paver, trucks and light vehicles will be used to perform these works. Lighting towers will also be in operation during night works.

Truck movements

The heavy haulage of material from the lowered motorway is now complete. Trucks entering and exiting the lowered motorway are primarily delivering material to the site. Consequently, the number of truck movements has decreased.

Trucks continue to travel in one direction from south to north. Trucks enter from the northbound lanes of South Road at Hindmarsh Avenue, West Hindmarsh or from the northbound lanes of South Road at Port Road. Trucks exit the lowered motorway on to the northbound lanes of South Road just south of Overland Road, Croydon Park

Works will be managed to minimise disturbance to local residents however some minor noise and vibration can be expected at times.
