CLOSURE OF WILLIAM STREET AT SOUTH ROAD, CROYDON – 9/8/2016 – 22/8/2016

The T2T Alliance is currently undertaking an intensive program of works to prepare for the upcoming traffic switch to the new northbound surface road on South Road between Robert Street and Torrens Road.

As a result of these works, William Street will be permanently closed at South Road from 7pm Tuesday 9 August 2016 as per the final design.

Please note: Access to Croydon from South Road WILL ONLY be available via Bedford Street until the traffic switch occurs on Monday 22 August 2016. 

As previously advised, after the traffic switch has occurred, the following traffic arrangements at South Road will apply:

  • Euston Terrace – closed permanently.  Pedestrian and cyclist access remains available
  • Day Terrace – closed until April 2017
  • Robert Street – closed until April 2017
  • Henry Street – open to ‘left in / left out’ turn movements only. No right turn from South Road
  • William Street – closed permanently
  • Elizabeth Street – closed permanently at Cedar Avenue
  • Cedar Avenue – open to ‘left in / left out’ turn movements only. No right turn from South Road
  • Harriet Street – open to ‘left in / left out’ turn movements only. No right turn from South Road
  • Hurtle Street – closed permanently
  • Bedford Street – open to ‘left in / left out’ turn movements only

A temporary u-turn facility will be available at Bedford Street to allow northbound traffic on South Road to head southbound. U-turns for southbound traffic on South Road to head northbound will not be permitted

  • Dartmouth Street – open to ‘left out’ turn movements only. No left or right turn in from South Road
  • Scotia Street– closed permanently

Traffic management, temporary traffic restrictions and detour signage will be in place.
